What do ya'll think of this thing?
What you can't see is that it has a large clamp with rubber jaws at the base.
Great for tight spaces or on-the-road use. _________________ If it sounds good, it is good.

Very interesting, but I don't pop my mics anymore so I've been getting rid of my pop screens which have been collecting dust in the closet.
O.K. maybe once a month when acting out I look up and address the mic instead of the space in front of me and pop it good, but still they can be messy, germy, slightly sound-deadening obstacles I'd rather avoid.

I am working on getting a really nice one for review here shortly.
What would be important about your piece is transparency and effectiveness. Maybe a sound file with before and after?
I like the mount though. |

Doug Turkel brought his with him out to the Dan O'Day Summit and was showing it to us. That is pretty handy and very compact for travel. He mentioned you were the one who pointed him in that direction. Very nice! _________________ We have nothing to fear but fear itself.
Well, that and mimes.

The pop screen is not my own design, it is from Popless, and it's one of the best designs I've seen and heard. Our very own Kevin Genus has a testimonial on the page I linked in the previous sentence.
My idea is just combining the mount for the screen with the mic arm in a new way, with a new product from Stage Ninja that I modified with a few extra parts. _________________ If it sounds good, it is good.

George, can this mount handle a mic as heavy as a U87? And where can I find said mount? Sorry, Banksey has me typing and thinking in Shakespearean meter! _________________ Pam Tierney

Pam:
I'll have a few coming in on Friday this week.
Do you want the basic model, or one with the pop screen as seen in the photo?
Yes, it will hold a U87, it's amazingly strong. Still not as strong as a heavy mic stand, but impressive none-the-less. It's not nearly as flimsy as a traditional gooseneck. _________________ If it sounds good, it is good.
