Generally speaking, there's nothing wrong with the quality of store brand items. Many times, a store brand item is manufactured by makers of higher-priced goods, but is marketed in considerably less expensive packaging and doesn't have to support a huge ad campaign.

With that in mind, and as there seems to be so many connoisseurs of cake among us, I thought I'd share something I found at my local supermarket, part of a longtime regional chain.

Unlike layer cakes with frosting, they're making these delightful droolables that resemble pound cakes, but are tastier and seem to have less guilt attached. Made with whole grain flour - a plus right off the bat, they are chock-full of raisins AND chocolate chips, with whole grains sprinkled on top. <sigh> Such satisfaction.

EGAD! I just remembered I ate the last piece yesterday. A dire run to the supermarket is called for.

A microphone and a fork. They're all I need.

Mmmmmm.... yummy!

I wonder what FedEx would charge to ship and deliver 130 pallets.

OK, I bought another cake and managed to shoot a fairly decent pic of it, and put it on my server. But I just realized I can't hotlink to media on my server from other sites. Ahh, the downside to security. Well, the cake resembles a pound cake, only slightly darker in color, and it has raisins and chocolate chips, and the top is sprinkled with whole grains. The Whole Grain Trail Mix Chip Loaf is available at least at the ShopRite stores in New Jersey operated by Foodarama, Inc.

If anyone is interested in seeing the picture and has another idea how to get it to display here, I'm happy to oblige. A hi-res jpg is available.

When it comes to fried pies, I like these (sorry can only provide a link)

http://bgpies.com/

Bodenheimer and Golf started it and an attempt at automation shut it down. It was rescued by a family member named Baker

I have been to the factory, what a temptaion.

Any body intrested in less than a million I could work a deal.
