lazy saturday morning doing something that has needed to be done for a looooong time ... file organization & clean-up. two questions:

1) do i REALLY need all these .pk files? what do they do? and if i DON'T need them, can i tell AA NOT to create them?

2) can i save a session down from AA 3 to AA 1.5 (1.5 won't open the 3 session)

.pk are "peak" files that allow the waveform of the files to be re-opened in sessions more quickly. They're beneficial, but not essential, and can be disabled. Now that I've got a spiffy rapid computer (even though it's Vista 64) I can open sessions with no noticeable delay without the .pk files.

Lance is partially correct. You would not disable them exactly, you would however not save them after you close AA.

Do this by choosing Options > Settings > Display, and deselect Save Peak Cache Files. (Aslo in the link provided by Lance).

What you already have saved may be deleted at any time should you decide to keep them for posterity.
