Todd,

Planning to move to Detroit? How did you happen across that ad?

Sounds like a great place for non commuters. Let's all buy a property there and make one great big voice over community....it could be fun.

then again.......

ya know greg - that is almost exactly what i was thinking this morning - not US per se, but this seems like a great opportunity for a group of like-minded folk to get together and re-hab the neighborhood ... maybe lots of neighborhoods. why wouldn't civic groups get together and buy $10k - $30k worth of property, find people with sweat equity to contribute and clean up the joint?

Holy crap. I thought it was a typo/joke kind of thing, but no! I looked at the agent's other listings and there are all kinds of houses, nice looking houses, going for prices like $15,000 or around $10 a square foot. How sad.

Indeed what an opportunity for someone, but one that no one will likely pursue anytime soon.

I kid you not, I just bought a mic for that amount today (within the past hour!) and it included shipping.

My head is spinning just a bit at the comparison.

There may be typos in the ad as what's shown on the map isn't "one block north of Grosse Pointe" ... not even close. (One block north would be St. Clair Shores, not Detroit, and it's not that, either.)

How depressing. How many US cities will be actual ghost towns in the years to come?
