|
|
Here is a clip of a recording that I made in my home studio which I just recently set up. I would appreciate it if all of you could give me a candid opinion of its quality. I am using a Shure SM27 mic plugged into an M Audio Firewire Solo interface. I am recording in a 5' x 2' closet that has blankets on the walls and foam on the ceiling.
I am recording in GarageBand on an iMac computer. I performed the following processing:
1. Used a noise gate to filter out sound below -30 dB.
2. Used equalization to "roll off" sound below 100 Hz and above 10 kHz.
3. Used the "vocal compression gentle" setting.
4. When I exported to an .aif file, I used the automatic normalization setting. This should have normalized everything to -0.10 dB.
5. I opened up the .aif file in Audacity, converted the stereo track to a mono track, and then exported to a .wav file (16 bit, 22.05 kHz).
Thanks!

The quality of the audio signal sounds fine to me.
You have now managed to check off one of the boxes in the list of necessary prerequisites to voice over success.
Congratulations. _________________ Brian Forrester Voice Overs
