Alas, I tried cross-country skiing but could never quite get the knack of it -- my center of gravity is too high, I guess. I'm OK on level ground but as soon as I encounter a gentle slope I end up on my kiester. That picture was taken one winter while I was snowshoeing. There's nothing like the silence of a forest after a snowfall, which always reminds me of a radio script blooper I read about some years ago:SFX: SNOW FALLING THROUGH A FOREST OF PINE TREES
