With a recent booth overhaul and new gear, I'm taking another stab at a V123 'Premium' subscription, mostly for the practice and challenge.
Anyway, I've posted some questions on their forum but not getting much feedback so I thought I'd try here. Regarding auditions,
1. What if there's a typo in the script or some other weird parameter? A recent audition (Motorcycle Laywers) asks for a recording time of 15 sec which seemed extremely tight for a 'dramatic' read. Is there a way to quickly get an inquiry to the client?
2. When I receive an audition invitation, I often find there's been a slew of auditions sent it. If I'm getting the alerts at the same time as everyone else, how can auditions be received so quickly? Are there insiders getting a jump on the audition process?
3. A recent audition for a nat'l spot posted pronunciation MP3s. However, when I went to those pages, I got a page full of garbled text.
Thx! _________________ www.chriskoprowski.com/en |

Chris,
1. No, there is no way to get in touch with the client directly unless they indicated an email or contact info in their post. You can TRY to go through V123 customer service, but I wouldn't waste my time on that....I would do the audition to the best of your ability & the way you think it'll work the best & go on with the next one.
2. That's the whole "Smart Caste" system. Yes others may well be getting the auditions before you do....welcome to the fun.
3. THAT I would get in touch with V123 customer service for...that seems to be a website issue on their end.
Have fun! _________________ Liz de Nesnera O.A.V. ~ Livin' The VO Dream!

I don't know any of the answers as they relate to the site (I've been a member for several years, but rarely audition). For the question on overwritten audition scripts- this is what I do: I record one take to time, even if it sounds ridiculous, just to show that I respect their constraints...then I do one take at the speed I think it should be read. Of course, I only do this if I feel I can trust the place I'm sending my audition- otherwise if I'm not 100% comfortable, I only send the longer take...that way it can't be 'stolen'.
Hope that helps! _________________ Threadjackers local 420

Thx for the quick feedback—that all makes sense!
V123 customer support followed up on the tech issue. They told me clear the cache and delete all cookies...did that but still getting garbled text at the links they provided. Hm. Will inquire further. _________________ www.chriskoprowski.com/en |
