I've been a "two-thousand-ten" kind o' guy for many years, partly thanks to some wild teenage speculation (and amateur audio production) that a friend and I did many moons back. I doubt that I'll use "twenty-ten" much in the new year, partly because I didn't feel much compulsion to say "twenty-oh-nine" for the current one.

It's simple. Say "next year"and then in a few days say "this year".

I like 20-10.

I'm all done with the "two-thousand" crap.

The guys on The Now Show (BBC Radio 4) were calling the last 10 years "the naughties".

I'm one for continuity. And, as we hadn't been saying "one thousand nine hundred (and) ninety nine," I think 20-10 is the way to go, too.

However, if a paying client wants me to pronounce 'Raymond Luxury Yacht' as 'Throat Warbler Mangrove,' I'm happy to do it.

By the way... what's that, on the television?

I like twenty-ten. It helps you get ready for the year 2525... if man is still alive, if woman can survive.

20-10 is fine with me. If $$ is invovled then I aim to please. I'm not concerned about 2525 cause if I'm still around I probably won't know what day it is much less what year.

I prefer two-thousand-ten. Oddly, I have no problem referring to the just-ending year as '09 (oh-nine) but think it sounds strange to call the upcoming year '10.

Well, you could be like my husband... when writing out the date, he was writing 9... just nine... (or 8, 7... whatever the year was) for the year. No 09 for him. He thought the zero was unnecessary.

I prefer two thousand ten myself. Dunno why... I just do.

Back in the year Nineteen-Ten, scientists predicted that people in the future would also say "Twenty-Ten". Little did they know how sloppy the world would become in the following years.

I think Orwell wrote about this to a degree in One Thousand Nine Hundred Eighty and Four.

We've been down this rowt before. I'm just going to have a carmel and forget it.
