That was fun, thanks!
My grandmother was an actress in the 1923 version of the Ten Commandments and when I was a youngun she relayed stories from the special effects people on creating the parted Red Sea....lots of work with Vaseline and gloppy gelatin between glass plates apparently.
As hokey as they look today, those effects looked really real to the audiences of the day. I still remember having nightmares after seeing all those Gumby-like monsters in Jason and the Argonauts in the theater.

Very fun clip. It's fun to see what's happened over the years, especially as one who has been both an avid follower of the craft as well as a partial participant. _________________ Justin S. Barrett
