Mary asked about my new avatar in rognog's gear thread. I thought I should reply here instead of hijacking his thread.

Hart dear, would you mind identifying your new avatar for your friends????? What in the world could be so important as to replace the picture of your beloved canine?? Hmmmmmm?

I've been waiting for someone to notice. That my dear, is the first "picture" of our baby. It was taken yesterday at the doctor's office. We were actually able to see the heartbeat and to hear it! Man that was cool.

The littlest Hart, coming in January to a studio near you.

Thanks. I have to admit it's a bit daunting; the idea of parenthood. Seems to me it's the biggest challenge in life. I look forward to the adventure.

It's interesting how life works. 2 months before we were to be married I lost my pd gig. The week we find out Amy's pregnant I also find out we're shutting down the radio stations. I hope all of life's milestones don't come with a job loss. Wink

It's all okay though. My wife is doing well discounting a bit of morning sickness here and there. We've been planning this baby for a little while and are having a hard time containing our enthusiasm.

Hah-- if it DIDN'T seem to you to be the biggest challenge, I'd figure you weren't up for it.

One of my pals said:
People tell you your life changes with the birth of your first child. It isn't that your life changes-- it's as though someone takes your old life and completely erases it and replaces it with an entirely DIFFERENT life.

As a relatively new father myself, I know exactly what you're going through!

That moment can reduce any grown man to tears. I remember it well.

Welcome to the club.

When I first looked at it (early morning - no glasses), I thought, hmmm a picture of the solar system. Then I looked more closely and realized, no, that's the centre of your solar system.

Congratulations!

Get all the sleep you can. My first and only is now 13 going on 33. You learn to sleep with one eye open. Meantime, congrats.

Brian, heartiest of congratulations!!

I hope the dog(s) take the change well. I was amazed to find that not only did our dog accept the new arrivals, he wouldn't let any strangers near 'em. It was kinda cool.

How well I remember the emotion of hearing that first heart beat. 'Course, when I learned a few months later that there were two heartbeats, I was crying for different reasons.... but it all works out just fine.

I wish you great joy.

Congrats Brian!

You've got an excellent start for the baby's photo album! Course, after he/she is born the pictures won't be as expensive as this one probably was.

Congratulations,

Just think, soon you are joining the ranks of "Dad's) everywhere.

It starts out with the baby being born with no hair, and you with a full head of hair. Within a short time, your "little one" has hair and you don't...

I think the board has another proud "Papa"! Congratulations - Dad, and Mom too.

Way to go! Congrats. My youngest son and his wife informed me on Sunday that they've got a picture just like yours. It's a wonderful phase of life to live in.
