Just been reading the topic about "Recommendations for DIY websites", and then to this survey email topic.

It's clear that Augie (well, he's now our august pal, isn't he) doesn't subscribe to vo-bb... just took a look at his website http://www.focus25.com/, and thought "Ha ha!" I knocked my first website together in 1997 using the same theme in Microsoft Word (just checked, so did Augie)

Clearly a highly successful SENIOR Consultant (the juniors use Notepad!)

curiouser & curiouser

That website is just plain nasty. Considering how easy (and cheap) it is to get something so much better, that thing is a liability!

It's somewhat ironic that one of their recent projects was "Analysis of market opportunities for next-generation networking products and services" ... it's pretty obvious they're not eating their own dog food.

Augie's bio is hilarious ... "Dr. August E. (“Augie”) Grant is a technology futurist who specializes in research on new media technologies ... Dr. Grant is best known as Editor of Communication Technology Update, a semi-annual review of the latest developments in ... electronic mass media ... "

For a "futurist" he certainly seems to be stuck in a time-warp.

Stephanie from Voices.com says they did not commission the survey.

I totally believe Stephanie. I don't know this Augie guy and I don't get the point of having this so-called survey.

It seems to me this survey may have been commissioned by an entity bent on being relevant when there is painfully little to contribute but the rehashed and rewritten hastily skimmed highlights of other people's work and embellished fluff intended to masquerade as necessary knowledge.

An 'industry analysis' that is based on averaged responses to multiple choice questions is nothing more than averaged responses to multiple choice questions. 'Industry analysis' are fancy words. Steak Tartare is nothing more than finely ground raw beef.

Let us not believe everything we are told simply because it is what we want to hear. Let us not be fooled by appearances and shallow, meaningless affiliations.

Like I've been saying all along, the Emperor isn't wearing anything at all.

I did receive it. And responded. In return I'll get the white paper. I doubt it will have much substance, but if anything "pops" I'll definitely share.
