Had to pop out to get a few things to add to the lunch menu and whilst driving I heard actor Richard Briers being interviewed. Richard has a name for being a great TV sitcom actor and has made more than a few Guineas doing voiceoverisms. About doing Shakespeare he said this -
"Can't afford to do it all the time. The way to approach Shakespeare is to look at the bank book and see if you have enough money. If you find your flush then you can decide to do Shakespeare for say, 6 months .....Oh look, I've got enough money so I'm going to toddle off and do King Lear."
In June I'm going to see friends in Los Angeles for the weekend. For the most part it is a complete and utter ****ing waste of time and money, although I am open to professional surprises. You never know I may get signed by the great VO agency Feintush, Santana, Santani, Santoni, Sheik, Rattul and Rawl or that big elusive gig may fall in my lap. I realised a little while ago that I did a Briers. I looked at the bank book and thought ".....oh look, I've got enough money so I'm going to toddle off and do VOICE2010."
My thanks to Richard Briers. |

When I travel I like to let the trip lead me where it thinks I should go (meaning I try not to plan too much). I find that when I travel for work, this way of thinking really comes in handy!
At the beginning of every work trip I say to myself, "If I do nothing more than see a few friends and have a few laughs, then it will have been money well spent." I have yet to take a trip that didn't turn in to something more.
Last night after dinner with friends I dropped by a voice over mixer in Dallas. I did so to see our own Justin and a few other friends. That was my only expectation. However, I ended up meeting a producer that hires voice actors- and we exchanged info. Who knows if it will lead to work? All I know is it was great to see Justin and everyone else
Thanks for the reminder Philip that it isn't always about getting work or furthering one's career. If you can afford to do it- then go enjoy the journey! _________________ Threadjackers local 420

This all reminds me of the lyrics to an old song, originally recorded by Los Hombres, and later by John Mellencamp, I am very much looking forward to seeing you Philip, and Kara, and many more VO peeps this summer in LA.
Let It All Hang Out
A preachment, dear friend
You are about to receive on John Barleycorn
Nicotine and the temptations of Eve
No parkin' by the sewer sign
Hot dog, my razors broke
Water drippin' up the spout
But I dont care, let it all hang out
Hangin' from a pine tree by my knees
Sun is shinin' through the shade
Nobody knows what its all about
It's too much, man, let it all hang out
Saw a man walkin' upside down
My T.V.s on the blink
Made Galileo look like a Boy Scout
Sorry 'bout that, let it all hang out
Sleep all day, drive all night
Brain my numb, can't stop now
For sure ain't no doubt
Keep an open mind, let it all hang out
It's rainin' inside a big brown moon
How does that mess you baby up, leg
Eatin' a Reuben sandwich with sauerkraut
Don't stop now, baby, let it all hang out
Let it all hang out
Let it all hang out
Let it all hang out _________________ Bobbin Beam

...as will I, Philip... seeing as I barely had the opportunity to exchange a "howdy" with you at the NY Mixer.
This may be the best VOICE conflagration of all....what am I saying?...of COURSE it will be!

I arrive in LA just after lunch on the Friday and was thinking about the fact that Friday night is Curry night. What I need is a nice place near the Hyatt YMCA Regency Pizza, specifically an Indian restaurant. |

Bobbin, I love that song! I play it every now and then in my yoga classes. Helps the students just let it all hang out! _________________ 006 member of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Mic. Bonded by sound.

Philip,
I think there is a very high probability of a good Indian restaurant only a short drive from the hotel. Maybe more than one. _________________ Be well,
