This is my favorite mic. I think it works best on the guys though, but it will
put your voice smack dab on top of the mix.
Better than a 416; not only for it's versatility, but for the way it sounds.

Acoustics are counter-intuitive. If one thing is certain about acoustics, it is that if anything seems obvious it is probably wrong. |

Just to clarify, this is NOT the same as the UMT70 (which is transformerless) though they are probably very similar in character. |

Yes indeed!
It's just a little smoother, but it's still the same mic with the upper mid hype- perfect for VO. Every once in a while the MV692 body comes up on ebay or you can get it direct from Gefell and roll your own. The capsule head simply screws off, and you can put it on a different body. _________________ The Blog:

Okay, my Gefell UM70s is back from being serviced by Gefell (bought it on ebay and the capsule, while functional, was at the end of its useful life)
It's the same mic as the one Gefell is now re-issuing. If you want a U87 but have been chafing at the $$$, I would give this mic strong consideration.
Here's an audio sample:

DO NOT click if you have the vintage-mic variety of G.A.S. (gear acquisition syndrome)

Lovely mic and very close to a U87 - although a fraction more noisy IMO. Just sold mine on ebay actually. Too many mics!!!! |

I have to reiterate----- to my ears if you want that U87 mojo at about
half the price, this is the way to go.
The more I work with it, the more I gotta say, this mic seriously rocks. |
