I aints got non of that device recognition thing a happenin' on my 'puter.

I (we, actually, hubby and Sleep just installed the Mia Midi and I'm getting "no echo hardware found. Eeep. So we took it out, put it back in again and got the same thing. My computer isn't recognizing that pretty new sound card. Any thoughts?

I've searched through the forum already and did a search online and got no help. We're not taking it apart again today because I have a session in a few (for which Bruce wrote the script! So off topic but I like that I get to go read what he wrote.) We were smart enough to keep the old setup in place so that I could continue working but perhaps that is the problem?

I just did a fresh install of windows 7 ultimate today. I installed the wave rt drivers for the Mia with the card already installed and didn't have a problem. I didn't even wait for the hardware wizard to find the device. I am lucky enough to have 2 hdd's in the same box and went from the evaluation version to the final version and could flip back and forth between the two systems. Anyway, with that said, the card was still in the box when I did the fresh install along with a Soundblaster, so I just installed the proper drivers and shabang- it works!

I could only get my Echo AudioFire2 to work with Vista (did fine on XHobo Happy by using ASIO for all, and that would die once a week.

So I jumped ship to M-Audio which seems to be much more Vista and 7 friendly. I don't miss how the AF2 only let you play one program on your computer at a time. I couldn't have AA3 open and play a quicktime or a website. Pretty useless. The converters on the Fast Track Ultra are made by the same company/factory as Echo Audio and are only a smidgeon lower in specs...but they work.

I'm using XP. It's strange that it's not recognizing it at all, even though it installed the software.

Well, it doesn't have much of a rear end to speak of...

We've taken it out and made sure it was in firmly because that was my first concern, too. It seems to be in just fine. We may try it in another computer but not tonight.

Make sure you have it selected in your control panel /sounds and audio devices. If you have both installed your old config might still be the goto device until you change it.

Good advice, and we did, but it still didn't show up. So we opened her up, took out the other card and tried again. Nada.

Mandy,

Have you and Dan tried putting the card in a different slot? That's solved audio card problems for me in the past.

Yup Bob, it could be a bad slot or a shot card. I have been using mine on windows 7 for 9 months now with nary a problem (once windows released an update that allowed simultaneous record and playback from the same card).

I have the exact same card and operating system. In the installation procedure, I have found it imparent to install the drivers BEFORE physically installing the card... have you tried that?

Jacob, I'm going to try that! I think it's the only thing we haven't tried. I'll uninstall everything, take it out, reinstall, put it back in, then be in bidness. I'm going to try it tomorrow night, after I've gotten the work done for the day. At one point today we had trouble rebooting after we switched the card around and I was an hour from a session. Hearts a-pounding!
