Hello Everyone,
I know that this has been talked about in several threads on here. I am a Newbie and the Technical wording goes right over my head. Can anyone tell me the best and easiest way to set up using Skype for Phone Patch sessions in easy to understand non-technical language? You know kind of like "See Jane Run", from the books when we were kids. Boy am I dating myself!! Oh, by the way, I am running my Mic into a 1202 VLZ3, then into a Fast Track Pro and then into my PC.
Thanks,
Patrick |

You should be already set to go at it...just go into the audio settings of Skype and make sure your audio is going thru your preferred soundcard which would be the FastTrack Pro.
There are several ways to connect to your system, and without getting too technical, you could run some audio out from the onboard soundcard to a separate channel on your board and listen in alt 3-4 so you dont record the caller. In this case you would need to select that particular soundcard as the audio out in the Skype settings.
The first thing to consider before you rip your hair out is what you need to record with skype, if anything, or nothing, and what you want to do with it later. Then you can set it up accordingly.
I would be more than happy to assist in your plan. _________________ Does life start at 40? |

If you all you need to do is hear them and let them hear you, just assign the Skype audio Input/Output settings the same way your recording software is.
The Mac can share your FTPro between multiple applications. Monitor off the FastTrack Pro with headphones. _________________ If it sounds good, it is good.

Patrick, I am trying to do the same thing. I am using the 802VLZ3 running through a saffire pro 24 firewire.
What I have done is in SKYPE, I select the asio saffire driver as the audio input for skype and leave the output as my computer sound card.
With a patch wire of a 1/8" plug to a "Y" rca plugs, I connect the out put of the sound card to the "tape in" part of the mixer. It WORKS!! "mostly".
I am still getting some bleed onto the recording and have not figured out how to get rid of it yet. Perhaps a call to Mackie!!
Good luck and keep in touch. |

Guavaguy:
Mute the Skype return channel on the Mackie and press the "Alt 3/4" button in the Control Room Source section. That removes it from the recordings but allows you to still hear the caller. _________________ If it sounds good, it is good.
