Well, I got a new mic. And I'm trying to figure out how to work it and what compression settings would be good for auditions. I don't really trust my ears as much as I trust yours, so if you have a minute...

Click to hear Amy's new mic!

You can provide your opinion aninymously via the poll, or feel free to leave your comments and suggestions.

Thank you!

Hmmm, the mic has some sibilance, and there is no real body. In my opinion there is a bit of colour in the upper mid's which is obtuse.

You have a rich and wonderful voice which when recorded on a clean VO microphone will come through with a clarity which distinguishes you from the rest of the crowd.

A bit of tuning might help, use no compression and no EQ for a cleaner sound.

Sounds good unprocessed....pretty good overall.

I agree it's important to get objective feedback, but IMO ultimately you have to like the sound of it, whether anyone else does or not.

I think it sounded quite good...or rather, you sounded quite good on it

I like it Amy. Agree with Frank F on sibilance. Of course your ears will be the true test.

Amy, why process at all? The raw, dry file sounded great?!

The raw file is much better, and they're both good. But I think I liked you better with the AKG Perception you used (now I'll probably find out that this is the Perception...) Wink

hi, amy

i'll also vote for the un-processed sound, though both files sound a little "thin". (frank's line about your rich voice made me think of that comparison.) good overall, though.

by the way...as a comic, you missed a perfect opportunity to include another item in your poll choices: "does this mic make my (fill in the blank) seem big?"

thanks for sharing your lovely voice. a nice way to begin a monday.

another vote for the raw audio.

also, key question: are you speaking as a married or unmarried mom?

Amy, the RAW file sounds the best. There is of course sibilance, and it sounds a little thin, it's almost like you're standing in a null.

(I'm just going to throw some questions out that came to me while listening to both files. )
Is the mic in the same spot that I picked for you, and did you ever add the extra treatment that we talked about?

What is your preamp?

What is the mic?

Thanks! I got sick of mailing postcards and have decided to invest in billboards all over the city.

Or I went to photofunia.com.
