I'll go with, I buy the gear I need to get the job done.

I don't need a lot in my signal path. Decent microphone, Preamp, input box and a computer.

from there it goes off to whoever needs it.

Tools in the garage however... well, if it says "Special tool" in the owners manual, I just have to have that.

Hi all
I'm a newbie.

I am terrible when it comes to spending for new gear, I am a street entertainer in London. I use a live PA and I found myself constantly buying new mics new compact mixers etc to try and get the best sound.

This week on Gumtree I brought a used Mackie VLZ 1202 Pro, nice little mixer but I could have just stayed with my mackie DFX 6.

I need to calm down and just make the most of what I have.
LOL

Hey Dave,

You're in good company, my friend!

I haven't bought any new gear so far today.

But then again, it's only 8:46 PM here in the States...still three hours left in the day cool

Hi Rob great to meet you.

Just yesterday i brought a used Mackie VLZ 1202 Pro on gumtree for a decent price, I was excited at first but I am now having trouble getting the right sound, so i have gone back to using my old Mackie DFX 6 for the time being .

I do find with the DFX 6 you get a nice punchy full sound if you turn the faders right up. The good thing is that there is very little distortion.
The mic I have is an Audio technica AE5400 condeser mic which really shines through the DFX 6
I will try and behave from now on. and spend less LOL
