Hey Guys,
I'm thinking about getting a new cell phone that would make email, texting, and contact management a lot easier when I'm on the road. My budget us in the $200 range. I have AT&T so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
(BTW please don't make the suggestion "Change carriers!" I've been with AT&T for many years and I'm happy with their products and service...) _________________ Tom Dheere - The "H" is Silent, but I'm Not!

iPhone. Say what you will about Apple but they really got it right with this one. Or at least "righter" than everybody else. It's not perfect but really, really good.
I spend about 50% of my time on the road for my day job and this phone has been invaluable in keeping me connected and working while I'm gone. And the slogan, "There's an a for that"? Pretty much true: Think of something you want the phone to do and most likely there really IS an a for that.

Sorry, but I've got to agree. The iphone beats all others hands down, and I should know - I hate Apple and did masses of research hoping that I'd find something better.
Only drawback is the battery life. Because the screen quality and a s etc are so good it drains it pretty quick. So if you do buy an iphone, make sure you always have a charger with you.
Cheers

I'll echo the iPhone vote. To save battery life, don't use the 3G network. That drains a hefty chunk, and in some situations, the call quality can be lower than the other options. Also reduce the screen brightness lower than the default. I still carry a charger with me to/from work (in addition to having one in the car), but rarely need it. I charge it every night, so I almost never worry about draining the battery. _________________ Justin S. Barrett

I'm a fan-boy so I'll jump in with another +1 for the iPhone. Just to give some actual value here, I'll say that you should investigate the difference between the 3G and the 3Gs ... the 3G can be had for $99, and you may not need the extra stuff with the 3Gs... I mean, $100 is $100 _________________ Bish a.k.a. Bish

I work for AT&T in the Customer Service Call Centers, albeit for the landline, TV and internet side of things, but I'm glad to hear you're happy with the service! I would also say the iphone...I'm considering it as a gift for my wife who runs a small business from our home...by that I mean she's a stay at home mom and we have four kids...only two of whom are in school, so she IS running a "small business". It will help her a great deal in keeping track of what she needs to do schedule-wise, especially with a busy summer upon us! It'll also help her with recreational stuff like Facebook and email and stuff. iPhone all the way! |

I don't know what AT&T offers, but I have been extremely happy with my Blackberry. Just traded up to the Bold 9700 and I am in LUV! It's compact and light, offers 3G, battery time is great, can't ask for a better keyboard. Just to give you another option _________________ Elaine

Two things have impressed me about my Blackberry Curve. If I use the standbye feature, I can get two days of use in between charges. Also, I've dunked it in water twice in the past week while fishing. Both times, was able to fully revive it through careful drying and the first time, it stayed on after I pulled it out after 4 seconds or so. That's incredible. It isn't nearly as cool as the I-phone but thumbs up for durability and long battery life. _________________ Joe Szymanski

I don't believe that's true. The news is that, with the iPad, Apple is ending its exclusivity with AT&T by offering devices through Verizon. Not sure if this is just the iPad, or the iPhone too.
I've been using a blackberry on AT&T for a pretty long time. It doesn't have near the WOW factor (matter of fact it has no WOW factor at all) but it gets the job done pretty seamlessly.

Had my iPhone for a year and LOVE it. (I'm on it right now). I can't imagine life without it now.
I put mine in an Otterbox Defender case. You lose the sleekness and some of the feel but I've dropped my phone from 14 feet up and it still works. _________________ Hart Voice Overs Blog

Wow, thanks for all of the great insight! I need to hit the AT&T store and check my options. I didn't know you can use Blackberry via AT&T.... _________________ Tom Dheere - The "H" is Silent, but I'm Not!

I have been using an original 2g iPhone since 2007 and still find it to be the best phone I've ever used, before getting it I used the Palm Treo, Blackberry. and various other "smart" phones over the years.
New iPhones are usually announced in June or July. If you can wait that long, you might want the newer model, or you might get a better deal on an older 3gs. Rumor has it that the next software upgrade iPhone OS 4, will definitely not support my older phone and may not support the 3g model. So a 3gs is the least I would consider. _________________ I'm still...
