I'm not George, but I know the MicPort Pro is considered the 'standard' - in part because it allows higher quality throughput. It really depends on the requirements from the client. The Shure would work with a large number of the recordings I do, but not for everything.

I can't believe that this one flew past everybody! That's hillarious Bruce!!! I had to pick myself up off of the floor I was laughing so hard!

Now, if you didn't mean to make a maxi pad reference, and Apple really is considering calling the next generation the Max iPad, I can't wait to see the YouTube videos for that one Wink

It didn't Rolls Eyes

The allusion has been worked to death since it was announced... but we should let Bruce off the hook as he did correctly state (in the small print) that it was it's first appearance here... all the same... ditto Brian's "Eww..."

It can't fly past anyone..... (wait for it) It doesn't have wings. Gasp

One of my hold outs for the Maxi is that it is not Flash compatible. In these modern times this lack of compatibility, will limit my ability of having the "full web" experience. One of the reasons for getting the iPad --at least in my book.

I agree that the lack of Flash is irritating, but I honestly think that if someone hadn't taken a stand against it, we'd still be using it in ten years! When something is too easy (like Flash) but ultimately a resource hog (like Flash) and fundamentally flawed (like Flash) the market needs to be forced away from it because it will never go voluntarily. I've been blocking Flash for a while now (thank you, but I don't want to punch the monkey) YouTube left a while ago, now Facebook has jumped ship. Media sites are leaving it in droves so then can play nicely on the iPad (they started with the iPhone). All I need now is a nice little non-Flash web audio player.

Flash is dead... long live HTML5 !!!

The MicPort Pro may work, too. It's really a roll of the dice what will/won't work. I'll ask Beau Weaver since he has the iPad and a MicPort Pro if he has the camera adapter and to give it a try. I'll be dropping in to his Ojai mountain home tomorrow with the family on our way to a 2 night camping respite.

Sounds good. Thanks for the field research!

Being a BB user myself, I would certainly know if such a thing exists. I don't believe that will be happening anytime soon... The hardware just isn't up for the task or designed to take an external audio source.

George. Did you ever find out about the Mic Port Pro compatibility with i-Pad? More and more narrators are using for audiobook narration to become paperless but it really does not have a way to mark up pages from what I understand from users.

Here's a blurb from Grover Gardners Blog over at Blackstone.

I really wanted to justify buying one, maybe a book reader for my kids college texts. But for VO it seems just too limited. Hopefully with next generation and some enterprising aHobo Tounge developers, it will be worth the investment.

As much as I would like to "go green" I need to hand score my copy so a script reader does not work for me.

Has anyone actually tested the camera input with the amazing Mic Port Pro to see if it works? That would be a good start. Or used the Skype aHobo Tounge as a phone patch?

If I am missing something let me know I think their cool, love Apple products, just cant justify buying one yet. (But I want to).
