A little more on forvo.com:
While I haven't learned how the site name was derived, Forvo.com is owned by Forvo Media SL, from San Sebastián, Spain, has been online since 2008, and is now the largest pronunciation guide in the world. Like Wikipedia, it relies on regular folks (who join - for free) to contribute word pronunciations using Forvo's online Flash recording a (they don't accept mp3 or other uploads). They realize that some words can have different pronunciations from different regions of the same country, and welcome them all.
So, while Forvo can be a great resource for VO people, we'll have to remember - just like Wikipedia - that because anyone can make a contribution, there is the possibility that it may or may not be completely accurate. But contributors do have the ability to rate and discuss the pronunciations contributed by others.
Forvo sounds like a step in the right direction to me. Thanks again, Bill, for bringing it to our attention. _________________ Mike

I love Forvo. I have contributed quite a few English and Hawaiian words. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

I doubt it. Seems intentional to me. _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.

I must be really short-sighted. I just use m-w.com and click the little audio icon for individual words. _________________ Publisher: Voice Actors in the News
