Well, I thought I was doing OK on this new laptop, but I am confused now as to how to get a good clean mic input into the system.
The Mixer controls look very different than in XP and I am having a heck of a time.
Anyone have a moment to try to talk me through a set up?
I'm getting some sound, but very low. _________________ Playing for a living...

According to the Adobe tech support forums and a chat with the Audition support line - AA2 doesn't support a USB mic. So I am back using my dbx mini-pre for a while.
But now my speakers on the new laptop are not working right and the new Windows 7 interface is so different than XP that I can't figure out what I changed to make the speakers and the headphone jack stop working!!!!
(And I discovered during an ISDN session today that the mic in that booth has taken a hike and is now on a backup mic which I sent to the minor leagues due to excess sybillance.) _________________ Playing for a living...

I don't know about Win 7, but in Win XP my copy of AA2 shows my M-audio USB Producer right there in the Audio hardware preferences and records just fine. |

Connie:
"AA2 doesn't support a USB mic" makes no sense at all.
AA2 supports ASIO drivers, so you install the CEntrance driver and you'll be fine.
If you need more guidance, contact me directly.
AA2 is known to be one of the buggiest versions of AA, FYI. _________________ If it sounds good, it is good.

I think it was the double whammy of Windows 7 and AA2. And I can't go back - I was in upgrade mode from Cool Edit! And I don't think I have the original install of CE anymore.
But I will try that driver as soon as I get a moment. Thanks! _________________ Playing for a living...

I've never been able to get the ASIO drivers from my interfaces and USB mics to work with AA 1.5. any suggestions?
also, another question about pre-AA 3 versions.
I find the "gain control" feature in AA 3, (when a portion of a track is highlighted in the edit window, a small fader appears), a very helpful feature, especially for reducing breaths without deleting the space.
How do you accomplish this in AA 2 or 1.5? |

That one I can answer.
Just highlight the breath and reduce the amplitude by 10db - it is one of the presets in AA1. That does it for me.

Yes Greg. I'm running AA 1.0 and 1.5 on a Dell laptop with Windows 7.
No problems at all.
AA 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0 utilize WDM drivers, Not ASIO. _________________ www.asapaudio.com |
