i'm recording in a hotel room in chicago (again).

in what language does "do not disturb" translate to "knock on my door and shout 'ause keepie'" until i have to get up, walk over and tell you to go away?

Any language but English, apparently.

Sounds like someone is intent on doing their job to the best of their ability. Unfortunately, it may continue until you call Housekeeping and politely explain there is at least one person on their staff who either doesn't read or understand English. Or, you could try visiting a translation website and post a 'Do Not Disturb' sign in several languages. If that doesn't work, a call to the hotel Manager should do it.

You're obviously not staying at the Four Seasons Ritz-Carlton.

I would recommend not recording in Chicago hotels and ask some of the helpful folks around here about building your own studio. Wink
