I'm going to hold off commenting on this until you veterans have said your piece. But I have a pretty good idea what kind of responses to expect.

What the heck, I'd better quote this one in case it gets flagged.

This sounded familiar, so I searched the interwebs and found this:

I'll let you know if it turns up, Diane.

And, with regard to Deirdre's hopeful statement:

I'd like to suggest we help that along by no longer using the term 'voice-seeker' that those cheese-heads coined. Are those in need of a plumber called 'pipe wrench-seekers?' We don't hire a tool; we hire a person who possesses a tool and who has both the experience and the ability to use the tool correctly for the job at hand. Only the inexperienced clientele of V123 - those who've never before hired a person to professionally read scripts - are seeking voices. Those who do know the difference and who choose to hire qualified professionals for the right reasons are called 'clients.' I think the term 'voice-seeker' connotes almost a nursery school level of knowledge and/or understanding of our industry. I mean, come on, what real talent or casting agent asks for a written proposal with audition submissions? In 30 years, I've never been asked for one.

Coming up next on 'Barney & Friends:' Do you own a stove? Great! You're a chef! Do you own a pair of rubber gloves? Congratulations! You're a doctor! Stay with us...'Your Career from a Gum Machine' starts right now...

I just stay low-profile with P2P. Left VEE Eins Zwei Drei a few years ago, don't miss it at all. Have a few good demos on voices.com, and the "clients" come to me. At least two gigs a month with no auditioning. Well worth the "subscription". I audition every now and then for straight corporate stuff with a pretty good booking rate. There's no point in auditioning for the commercial stuff with P2P because either the rates are too low or the producers/directors have no idea what they're doing, OR all 3000 plus "talents" are going to audition for it.

Yeppers, they're at it again. An interesting kick to this is that they seem to post only on CL "jobs" areas that cost a fee to post, IMO to discourage people like me from posting a Re: that will most likely be flagged off by the post police. Infuriating. Again, the "job" is only there IF you join V123, and then you have to AUDITION for it. Jobs are supposed to be available from the listing, and anyway this is a GIG not a JOB. So much for proper posting...unreal.

And even after you join, you can only audition for it IF you are invited to audition.

Hmmm... that's right, Chris. This is clearly a solicitation to join Shpilkas123 because, as you said, the job is not available to those who don't join. And, as

Because this ad solicits paid membership, it has been posted in the wrong CL category. I wonder if anyone has flagged it for removal?

Some others that came up in the Google search might just possibly perhaps have been flagged as well. I'm just sayin'...

Also found it interesting...ironic, even that V123 has been recruiting via donanza.com - aka the "Freelance Jobs Search Engine" - which is also advertised as "work with no boundaries."

Hmmm... doesn't it seem, then, that farblongjid123 is using these other sites for free advertising, or as another vehicle for a link back to their site, or both?

What a class act.

Reminds me of the running joke from "Fat Albert & The Cosby Kids":

Voice123 is like a schoolhouse at 5 o'clock in the morning: No class.
