Some time ago I used the term Voiceoverist, it made me smile. Today I read this headline.

I hate it when that happens.

That's why you've got to secure the rights on those smartly devised words and ideas.

Hey, what's-his-face, the slickback haired basketball coach for the LA Lakers all those years ago tried to trademark the term "threepeat" because his team won the NBA championship three years in a row....all for himself.

I guess anything's possible.

All that aside, it's a lovely term, Philip, and I'm just sorry I didn't think of it first.

It still would have been nice to give Philip a 'kudu' after the first reference to Voiceoverist on page 5.

Philip's first mention of the words Voice Overist was on Wed Feb 04, 2009 3:53 pm.

Congratulations to Philip for coining a word in the English language. Only 19,999 to go to catch Wm. Shakespeare. Wink

it's an e-book - quite easy to update with an acknowledgment, right?

I'll sue! What do we think, open at $1.2 billion and settle out of court for 28 cents ?

Should anyone else on this board do it without the courtesy of a full nine page acknowledgement I'll just give them a good hard thump. Luckily, no one would.

Me and Alan Freed, trendsetters! I now have to get embroiled in some sort of scandal, ideally in LA next week and die 7 years ago aged 43.

I have been working on a new term myself....instead of saying you had good times....just shorten it to GT's. Please help me in my quest. It's a legacy I must fulfill. Wink Wink Wink

Seriously... I'd sue the guy... how dare he... um... er... use the term ... and help propagate it!

but actually... I do acknowledge Philip's coining the phrase on page 78 in the copyright's section.

I tried The Modern Voiceover Talent's guide... but it didn't flow as well as voiceoverist.

Plus you can't have a title that is a tribute to Douglas Adams without adding a little philip banks in to make it more surreal!

The answer to the question every Voiceoverist asks is 47.

Any Voiceoverist needing work today must use the "26 Bluebird" method.
