I recently did a 2 min VO for a new client. They really loved the finished product and told me they would send me a final copy. Also that there would be more projects in the future. What is your opinion on how long I should wait to ask about the other projects. I don't want to sound like I am desperate, which I'm not but these guys paid well! Just some thoughts would be nice, |

I believe 18 hours is the standard time for a call after the first date so as not to come across as desperate. _________________ Jeff

I recommend a "don't count your chickens 'til they've hatched" approach. The best-laid plans of the most well-intentioned clients can still change, so there's no guarantee that there will be a second job from these folks. If something else comes through, count your blessings.
Speaking of counting blessings, consider it a blessing that you've been paid. Near the beginning of this month, I did a job for a company that promised "more where that came from." Like you, I wondered when the follow-ups would start rolling in, and was pleasantly surprised that it didn't take long. They've hired me two more times since that first gig. The down side is that their payment policy is not to send out checks until each job is complete on their end, so I haven't received a thing for the three jobs I've done so far. _________________ Justin S. This is where an email database of clients with which to keep in contact would come in handy. Send out periodic newsletters.
Also, sending a hand-written thank you note would arrive in a week or so. Not only will it impress (your momma raised you well), but it will remind. But make sure it is ONLY a thank you note, not a please-hire-me-again note, so skip including a business card. _________________ Jeff
