Hey all, got a longtime client with a regional half-hr. Outdoor Sports/Hunting show for which I've voiced in-show elements: (sponsor-billboards, bumps, rejoins) on a piecemeal basis for several years.
Show's now gone national with usage on three cable nets (FoxSports, Sportsmens, WILD-TV) with 13 to 26 wk cycle usage.
Looking to quote'em a fair rate for the vo work. Usage is up-to-26 wks per cable network. Actual vo session time 1-2 hrs max.
Figuring probably a potential 90-million network households coverage, total.
Content breaks down to about 25 generic :05-:10 elements that appear in each 'episode' + customized 15-sec show-specific open for 13 shows, total.
Non-union gig. Just trying to come up with a good ballpark quote, for up 26 wks, 3 nat'l cable nets.
These are jobs i'd happily prefer to have come to me already negotiated by one of my agents but in this instance, need to deal with producer-client direct and it's getting harder to get my agents recommendations as a favor when they're not booking the gig, understandably.
Decent multiple sponsorship on the show so the budget is not necessarily low per se... just trying to work up something that's reasonably fair for both parties.
Any input, much appreciated - or, happy to fill in whatever add'l info i can.
Thanks alot for any thoughts and help..as always.
Best Regards

Ask for what you want but based on my knowledge of the US cable market and the audience figures you're probably looking at around $1,600. |

Thanks Phillip. A couple of years ago I quoted something right in that ballpark for a similar job - different client - though in that case it was single cable network usage/26-wk - alot fewer households.
I had an inclination to kick it up a few notches to allow for the fact that in this case it's three cable nets vs. one. A tough call.
I guess the line between Cable and Broadcast network distribution is becoming less valid to me in today's media landscape...tho' probably
still not perceived that way in the budget-minds of many producers.
Again, thanks for your reply and
Best Regards,

You might as well kick it up. The worst that can happen is the client would kick it back down. _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.

My first impulse was $2400, $2500...somewhere in there. I'd likely be happy enough with $2000. (Would probably take $1500.) _________________ the Amy Snively family of brands for all your branded thing needs.

Hunting and fishing shows are somewhat notorius for low pay. Only the celeb hosts like Roland Martin or such make any real money on them. |
