Just found this deal on B&H for brand new Pro Tools Digi 003 Racks for only $950. These normally sell for around $1400. Free shipping, too. Don't want to wait, do what I did and head over to Guitar Center and take advantage of their price match guarantee.

It seems that Avid, the video editor company, has purchased Digidesign and is about to re-brand the the Digi/PT systems with their own logo and discontinue the old line. From what I was told, the hardware will remain the exact same, except for the fancy new Avid look. |

What a great excuse for me to upgrade!
Avid, by the way, has always owned Digidesign. I'm guessing because the line in media between audio and video is blurring, they're putting everything under the parent/main company name.

Just make sure your old Commodore 64 is compatible with PT 8.0. You might accidentally triple your cost. |

Who in VO acting needs one of these?
Unless you are doing a studio with ISDN and phone patch and need to mix it all "in the box", it's way overkill...
But thanks for the tip. _________________ If it sounds good, it is good.

And that would be a yes. Or, I am no longer a VO actor. One of the two, I guess.
To add to the story, I am simply used to the system. I bought into the rack series at 002, before the MBox line was introduced.
And it looks cool in a rack. (That's for Joe.) |
