Don't know if you've heard about this or not..

Clinton Recording Studios Is Selling Its Inventory. http://www.clintonrecording.com/

Among a host of other equipment, they appear to have a number of U87s for $2,000.

The full list is on their website.

I just emailed them ... looking to buy a Sennheiser 421.. Fast email response, they are going to ship, and accept PayPal for payment.

On the 421 make sure it is at least a "U", i.e. 421-U5 . Otherwise you'll hate it. The modern 421 II's have been revoiced and sound just awful.

Acoustics are counter-intuitive. If one thing is certain about acoustics, it is that if anything seems obvious it is probably wrong.

Thanks for the tip. They have some U5 Models and also a couple of the II's.

You guys are a bad influence, esp you Glen!

Fortunately I have a spouse to keep me from sinking further into the gear-itis abyss.... Ninja

Those vintage U87s are mighty tempting.

I also have one of those spouses Rob. There are times when I question why... This is one of them. Cry

(but I wouldn't have it any other way!)

My spouse usually ends up finding out about equipment packages when FedEx appears at the door.

My studio isn't Condeser mic friendly (acoustics)... but the Senheisers should be PERFECT to upgrade the 2nd & 3rd mic positions!

I've been told that there is only one U87 left.

They were holding it for me, but I just have to draw the line on my gear-itis...
and my Gefell M930, while no U87, is getting the job done quite well. Plus I think I have finally found (for me) the sweet spot on my 416.

So if anyone here has been contemplating grabbing one of the U87s, move fast.
