Thanks to Doug Turkel, I bought up a bunch of domains that weren't taken. Then I learned that they do no good if you just redirect them to your main site as Google discards duplicate content.

So I'm making sites for some of the domains I've bought. I'd love feedback on the first one at http://audiobook-voice-over.com/. Simple, one page design. Am I missing anything?

Jeff,

First, smart. Very smart. (Not surprising since you were acting on a suggestion from Doug Turkel.) Second, looks good to me.

I dig the layout. Very nice play on the theme! Well executed, simple, and clean. I wish I'd thought of it. Wink

Although, and forgive me, "giving voice to your typing" seems awkward somehow. I understand that it fits into the page layout well and plays off the theme, but the sentence itself seems...unparallel, for a lack of better phrase. Why not "From your typewriter to their ears," or something of that nature?

(But again, what do I know?)

Looks good... original. The fonts used go hand-in-hand with the audiobook idea.
I agree with Andy on "giving voice to your typing".
Maybe...
"giving voice to your thoughts"
"giving voice to your words"
"giving voice to your story"
"making your book talk"
"from your book to my wallet"... maybe not.

With apologies to Jeffrey, his wife, and his bank account, Smile , I'm thrilled to see that you're moving ahead with the idea. KUDOS!

How about:

From your keyboard to their ears. (For two reasons; 1, because "From your keyboard to my mouth" is just wrong; and 2, because so few people actually use typewriters, the word "keyboard" bridges the technology gap while remaining true to the visual theme of the site.

Giving your characters character. (Though this one may not work for non-fiction.)

And a coupla' (admittedly) nit-picky points:

1) "Having narrated over 22 books" sounds to me like you've narrated exactly 23 books. "Having narrated over 20 books" actually sounds more impressive to me. Sorta' leaves it open-ended, y'know? Less updating, too.

2) Are they rates that "can be" surprisingly affordable, or are they rates that "are" surprisingly affordable? (Active vs. passive voice.)

3) "Not only can he completely produce your book..." Don't you mean "Not only can he completely produce your audiobook..."?

4) Re: the category title "Demos." Wouldn't "Samples" or even "Listen" be more explanatory from the point of view of the authors who will be visiting your site?

Hey, Jeff...

First - awesome idea to have a separate website for your audiobook work. Smart business decision.

Now for my unwanted 2 cents. A) This is admittedly subjective, but I would have preferred that your logo be larger and more prominent. That is your brand - I think it should stand out more. cool There is something about the slogan "giving voice to your typing" that just doesn't do it for me. C) I get the "typewriter/author/author's tool" theme you're going for, but I can't help but think that the space on the bottom of your home page could have been utilized better.

Anyway - there you go. Hope I was of some help. I know opinions are like noses...everybody has one. Actually that's not how the expression goes, but this is a family show!

Best of luck.

"Giving voice to your story" I think works for non-fiction as well as fiction books.

I'm guessing... From your wallet to mine, one book at a time... would be a bit too much.

Nice work, Jeffrey...

I've been featuring a separate audiobook website for a long time, as many audiobook publishers seem put-off when they find out you (deep inhale) do commercial voice-overs too!

They want actors!...not ex-DJ's!!!

Purists!!

I like yours better.
