Here's another fun one written by someone who is not an anime voice actor (and never will be if she follows her own advice):

http://www.ehow.com/how_6767606_anime-voice-acting.html

I love that "Step 1" suggests applying for a 3-year degree from a drama school as if such a thing is "required", and even moreso that the checklist for "things you'll need" to achieve success includes:

A4 bond paper
Actor head shot
A4 manila envelopes
Postage stamps

LOL!

I really want to get into dubbing anime. I'm off to get my 10-by-8-inch actor's head shots, and then I'll type a letter outlining my vocal quality, introducing who I am and why I am writing, and explaining why I want to work as a voice-over artist in anime.

The most important part, of course, is explaining why I am writing, since the recipient's first question will be "Why is she writing?"

I played Soroptimist Prime in the anime series Managamento. My character transformed from a 1971 VW Camper Van into a transgender female middle manager who worked for a trucking company on the outskirsts of Kobe.

My catchphrase was "Girlfriend, those coveralls clash with your eyes, now TRANSPORT!"

The series has cult status in the Lisbon gay community.

My agent put me up for the part to annoy me.

Philip, will you be writing a book at any point? Your experiences are to marvel.

BTW, that's a part I would have killed for. Who's your agent?

I almost forgot: with so many experts today, it's a wonder we still have the problems we do.

Monty Python offers some guidance here.

Perfect video accompaniment, Mike.

I just did the English dubbing for a couple of characters in a low budget Chinese animated feature (chiname, I believe it's called) and even the Chinese voices didn't match well with the Chinese characters' mouths. "OK, he's really agitated here and you've got about 8 seconds to say this line. Let's do three in a row. Take 1." Brilliant.

Hey, but I got a box of frozen egg rolls out of it that should last me till the end of the year.

It reminds me of the anime fan that tried to convince my sister that in order to get an audition at an anime studio you have to perform 6 original voices in front of a casting person. When she tried to explain that her sister had recorded a few anime and she was pretty sure that wasn't the case, the boy cut her off to say, "I'm sorry but I've done my research, I think I know a little more than your sister does at this point."

Kara, that's why the guy is just an anime FAN instead of a performer. Wink

But now I know what I've been doing wrong all these years.

I have not been using the regulation A4 paper OR envelopes!
