(I do hope "intro" threads are OK, couldn't find a shared one and read the rules)
Hi folks- I was sent this way by an individual who recommended this board (among many other resources) in response to an email inquiry I sent him, so here I am. I'm not naming names but I'm grateful to him for sending me this way.
My name is Corey and like so many others I'm attempting to carve out a career for myself in voice acting. Specifically, I'm best at narration-type work, but I'm trying to develop my chops in multiple areas. As a novice I have no illusions but I also know that I won't always be a novice, which is why I'm glad places like this exist.
Luckily, as a software developer in my "day job", I'm stable enough income-wise to be able to take the necessary steps to becoming a voice artist without becoming a starving one .
Already, this forum (even when I could only read it) has been quite useful and the people seem very friendly, for which I'm grateful.
Thanks and I'm glad to be here with you all. If you're interested, I'm documenting my process from "rank novice" into the world of voice acting on my blog linked below. _________________ Corey "Vox Man" Snow

Thanks, Doug, I'm chuffed to hear you say that. One of the things I learned about 2 days into exploring voice work "for real-real" (I've wanted to do it since I was about 20) was that you gotta check your ego at the door, and in a weird way, that blog is about doing just that- if I can discuss all my foibles, failures and flaws (edit: unintentional alliteration ftw) in front of everyone, it's sort of like cauterization for the soul.
For some reason, after you've discussed your latest newb move, it's not so bad/humiliating. Not sure why that is, but I'm glad it does- for me at least!
I've got a huge list of blogs to add to the blogroll too. _________________ Corey "Vox Man" Snow

Welcome! There are a lot of inside jokes and stuff here, because we've all gotten kinda close. Don't let that intimidate you. Soak up the archive, jump on in, keep an eye out for watercress, and BYO cake. _________________ the Amy Snively family of brands for all your branded thing needs.

Rules? I thought they were more like guidelines? Ooops.
Oh yeah. Welcome aboard.

Hi Corey
Welcome!
>As a novice I have no illusions<
It's been my experience that illusions are actually quite necessary in this business, especially after being rejected for your last 30 auditions.
> but I also know that I won't always be a novice<
I've been doing this for 30 years, now, and the longer I do this, the more I feel like a novice. _________________ Travis
