|
|
What started out as a hair-brain idea a few days ago, gained momentum faster than I could say "Sarcopenia Hyperplasia".
I posted on my blog that we should have a NATIONAL VOICE OVER APPRECIATION MONTH.
Naturally, Peter O'Connell picked right up on it...dragged Bob Souer into it, and it began snowballing. Amy Snively -- even with all she's doing on FaffCon -- pitched-in to create a logo, Dan Lenard chimed in...John Florian of VoiceOverXtra added support, and....well....here it is the 1st of September, and WE GOT US AN OFFICIAL MONTH JUST FOR VO's!!!!
We have an official-sounding proclamation, an official-looking News Release, and even our own website: HERE.
The question was immediately raised as to why it shouldn't be INTERNATIONAL (after all the announcement is under the aegis of SaVoa, which is international). We don't want Philip or Monteath or Voicy1Stef to feel left out, and indeed we may add that moniker somewhere during the month, and for sure next year. We wanted to make sure, first, that this is an idea that would take off. (BTW, Banksy is mentioned on the "calendar" page of the website)
Our own DB has lent her support, as have many others -- which you will see when you visit the site.
We feel this is an idea that will elevate the entire VO community, offer possibilities for promotional, marketing, and branding for everyone, and will maybe even offer a sense of pride for all of us who toil in anonymity.
Please feel free to spread the word freely..."borrow" the logo as you see fit for your website...use the News Release to send to your local media...have at it!!!!
Don't be surprised if you see the info pop up elsewhere (VoiceOverXtra) TOF, and even VU.
HUGE woots go out to a solid core of mostly VO-BB stalwarts who've made this happen in literally a matter of days.
OF COURSE!
Would you expect anything less from those who make up the center of the VO Galaxy?
Let me know what other suggestions, devices, or recommendations you-all have to make this thing really take off.
(Oh, and FaceBook URL coming later....I'll add it here when it's u

Dang. Too bad for the short notice. It takes about 2 months on average to get a proclamation from a government official. Something for our to do list for next June I guess.
Here's a pdf with good guidelines for doing this:

Well, we wanted to avoid any official government involvement....then there'd be administrative overhead, taxes, and GAO auditors to deal with.

As I must choose between the two months, this month I will be cultivating good looks and developing a personality. |

Why not help celebrate NVOAM with a VO t-shirt from http://voshirts.com.
Check em out and celebrate your appreciation! _________________ Donovan
