|
|
After my first trip with trying to get the materials for a portable mini-booth into my carry on luggage - (those who know me can attest to the fact that I don't do checked luggage - my record was clothing for 10 days plus a skirt, a dress, formal evening wear and 5 pair of shoes in a carry-on - oh plus the stuff I bought there as well) I gave up on the portabooth idea and just do this.
It works in any hotel. All hotels have a luggage rack. All hotels have a desk of some sort. All hotels have comforters, blankets and pillows. Comforter over the desk - luggage rack on top - wrap comforter over luggage rack. Stuff with pillows if necessary. Voila. Ask cleaning staff for more of above if necessary.

I did something similar to that earlier this year at a conference and needed to do a quick VO for a project. So, I piled up the pillows and suitcase holder much as you see here, and the laptop was outside the "tent". Didn't really hear that much noise and it worked pretty well!

Solid state HD so no fan - though there is a fan that rarely kicks on - when it does it's never on for more than a minute. I have a file somewhere that I recorded in the second setup as a test. I should dig it up and post it. |

That's some fine audio engineering Melissa!
Bob, don't you use a similar technique for travel recording with creative hotel pillow placement, etc? |

Tom,
Indeed, however Melissa's plan is far the better one. I'm going to borrow these ideas for sure. _________________ Be well,

Indeed. It's smart clever and resourceful. And will work just as good as any $350 manufactured device, maybe better. _________________ The Blog:
