the boys camped out over the weekend. same spot we've used for labor day weekend for 17 years. three boys slept in this tent friday night - saturday afternoon a massive oak tree fell - and crushed the tent.
the tree came down & sounded like an explosion - i ran at (for me) top speed to the tent - patting it down - yelling kids names - it was VERY scary.

Todd,
Wow! That must have been terrifying until you discovered the boys were OK. Tents you can replace. _________________ Be well,

Tent down, blood pressure UP but other than that no real harm done. From now on at most dinner/cocktail parties you hold the winning hand in terms of "...you'll never guess what" stories. |

Holy crap, Todd! I'm so glad the kids were okay. Hopefully your heart rate has dropped below 200 by now. _________________ Bob Ransom

Jeez! I'm glad the kids are alright. I'm with Deidre, there's nothing like the smell of burning oak in the morning. _________________ J. Christopher

Very glad to here about no injuries. The boys’ guardian angels must have worked overtime keeping them out of the wrong place at the right time. _________________ "Bailey"

OMG- this is a huge flashback for me! We were camping in Canada years ago when a tornado hit. My husband was away in the car returning a canoe we'd rented and I was at the site, in the tent. A huge tree came down, just missing the tent, and the trunk landed where my volkswagon beetle would've been parked. The photos are a chilling reminder of how lucky we were. And your kids. Wow. _________________ Bobbin Beam

Holy cow! I saw the crushed-tent photo, then went looking for some text saying that everyone was okay. Not finding the latter, I could only assume that all was well after seeing all the other comments. They were truly blessed! _________________ Justin S. Barrett
