I am starting to launch my new voice over career again after retiring from a career with predictable cash flow. I have been to workshops and seminars, retreats and study sessions. I got a new laptop and loaded it up with Protools LE. I got my own mic, a beautiful Rode NT1-A. Set up a home studio and got myself a demo made and a website. I've booked some decent work that has probably paid for some of my start-up costs. I don't know how much because I am afraid to add up the income and compare it to the outgo. Anyway, the result is here:

I would be grateful for honest feedback before I go out there and start seriously marketing me.
I can take it.
Thanks in advance

As a listener, after the third spot I heard all that you had to offer, and I was only thirty seconds in.
Don't get me wrong, you really have a great sound, you fit very well in the warm comfortable role, BUT you need to be a little more
versatility in your acting. In this demo you do not go more than 2 notches out of your comfort zone, you need to really amp up this demo
in terms of energy.
And when I mean amp it up, I mean way out of your comfort zone, all the way to 11. Bigger smiles, bigger attitudes, broader emotions.
I can hear you playing a bat-shit crazy old man. There is so much good stuff in your voice -so much juice- but you don't use it.
Take some acting and improv classes, this will help you grow as an actor. But most of all let lose and have fun--- be a kid again.
Better copy will help too.
Technical:
I only listened to your Commercial demo and part of your narration demo, because of the "sameness." Your commercial demo is fine for
now, just edit it down to 1 minute or even :45 seconds, and lose the fade at :47the production sounds the same all the way through. And
make sure it ends with a button. Lose the second introduction.... I would even lose the first introduction.
Production music sounds dated.
Spend the money and get a professionally produced demo. I look at it this way: If you're not willing to invest in yourself, why should
anyone invest in you?

Acoustics are counter-intuitive. If one thing is certain about acoustics, it is that if anything seems obvious it is probably wrong.

Mike -
Thank you! Nice analysis. I'm getting a coach and starting friday. The goal is to get a commercial demo made that rocks. I have been told by others that the demo is good but needs better music and/or livelier copy. I've been getting work, but is has been sporadic. I want to ramp up my marketing but I want the wwebsite and demos to be right. Your comments are well taken. You have been an enormous help.
