Quick explanation. My friend Lauren is Colonel in the Canadian Air Force. Her brief while stuck in Afghanistan is to be an instructor to pilots with little combat experience on the best ways to fly the C130J "Hercules".
"Phillipe,
In the right-hand seat this morning a USAAF Lt. Thought he knew everything ARRRRRRRRGH!!!! We did a drop and go, if I stayed low for too long, not so good for coming home in October, so I took control and flew fast to altitude. My little boy student sees that my face is wet with sweat. He reports me to the base commander for freaking out under pressure. I get the call to his office.
He asks me to explain. Gordon, I'm 51!" |

The boss knew, or guessed, but was obliged to investigate. Solution? USAAF Lt was told to phone his mother. |

I can't imagine the number of kids that do this without a Lauren.
Good for her!

I was, for a while, a sheet metal mechanic for the USAF as a civilian.
One of my duties was to assist in swapping out the JATO (jet Assisted Take Off) bottles.
I always felt bad about never being able to take a "ride" while using these devices.
Thanks for the video, Philip. _________________ Roger Tremaine
