I have been submitting auditions to one agent for over a year and a half. I have landed nothing. Started doubting my ability, wondered if I am on the correct side of the console, thought about going back into working for the man, et-al.
Today a call came in that I landed a gig with the agent!!! "Not a huge gig", but a gig that I auditioned for and got and trust me, every gig is huge in my eyes. That lifted me to cloud 9!
Then, booked a gig with a long time agent that just throws me at clients., THEN, got another one booked right after with an agent that said... Zak, we don't get you enough work, so we are pushing you right now.
I am posting this not to brag about getting work. I am posting this to let anyone that is struggling know that if you start each day with a smile, and an attack that will present you at your best, it does pay off.
I hope everyone on here can feel that feeling that I have right now at some point. The pay off is there, you just have to keep running up that sand hill every day! |

Zak,
Good for you and I quite agree that starting each day with a positive point of view is of significant value. So is keeping that positive point of view regardless of the bumps and bruises that accumulate through the day.

Thanks guys! I was not sure how this would come across. I didn't want it to sound like a 'look at me, look at me working' post. But, I know that as freelancers we all struggle from time to time, and just wanted to let everyone know that a good 'tude, and persistance pays off.
It is the small victories that add up to a great life! |

Nobody said anything about running up sand hills. I couldn't find that in the VO Manual.

Zak, that's part of what makes this such a great place to hang out- we help shoulder each other's burdens and we also help to mentor and motivate each other. Best little corner of the Interwebs ever.
