My usual resources aren't being very helpful. I'm fine with Petrushka, but getting mixed or no results with the following:
• Is it Michel Fokine or Mikhail Fokin (me-SHELL or me-KYLE) (fo-KEEN or fo-KYNE) or none of the above?
And it certainly doesn't help when I find this: Michel (Mikhail) Fokine
• Russian pianist Irina (eye-REE-na or ear-EE-na) Elkina (el-KEE-na or el-KYE-na)
Thanks for any thoughts. |

Ha! Who needs Google or Wikipedia when we have Liz!? (there really needs to be a way to make an interrobang with a keyboard.) Many thanks to our resident international VO, Ms Liz, for her phone call and quick answers. We already know what a great resource you are, Liz, but that's what I call 'super-service'! |

Awwww, thanks Don.
I'm just paying back just a fraction of what I have gotten here.
Glad to be of service! _________________ Liz de Nesnera O.A.V. ~ Livin' The VO Dream!

This isn't ballet, but as Atlanta's NPR voice, I often have to look up some pretty bizarre names (why can't any of these savants have names like 'Smith' or 'Williams'???), and this site is helpful for operatic tongue-twisters:

like Humble, TX. Pronounced UMBLE, (the H is silent)
Or Sacshe (sac-see) my realtor said to say "sexy" with a Sean Connery accent and that would be the correct pronunciation
but you are right, there are a lot of weird names for towns here in TX, these are just a couple I can remember off the top of my head |

Since we rarely have reason to talk about them here in the USA, I would suggest anyone interested in some really hard place names take a long look at Wales. Or Finland. Now you're talking. _________________ Be well,
