When I found this toothpaste a few years ago it was the first time in my life I could brush my teeth without a burning mouth!
Used to find it locally...now I have to get it online. _________________ Liz de Nesnera O.A.V. ~ Livin' The VO Dream!

Fact: Saliva actually has anti-cavity properties.
Fact: Saliva is the only thing in my mouth all night.
Ergo: Why brush in the morning? |
Saliva does have anti-cavity properties. But some medications; specifically decongestants (and others) work by creating a drying effect, so if saliva production is reduced, it's cavity protection abilities are also reduced
The antiseptic mouthwashes (Listerine and the generic equivalents) contain alcohol, which also dries, but some or all of the other mouthwashes may contain sweeteners that can make your mouth sticky.
For me, brushing then rinsing well, along with staying hydrated, seems to work pretty well. _________________ Mike

Oh, and several years ago, I started keeping Listerine Breath Strips in my studio. I saw it mentioned in Corey Burton's blog, tried it, and for a last minute ISDN session when I'm feeling "smacky" for whatever reason, it really seems to help quickly! They are potent, though! I have to give myself a few minutes to let it calm down as it really gets the juices flowing. _________________ SaVoa #08019

You want to brush in the morning because, irrespective of saliva's anti cavity properties, a biofilm called Plaque is forming as you sleep.

BTW, Pam, maybe try apple cider? I used it for a while and it really does help. _________________ Caryn Clark... The Hip Chick Voice!

Apple cider? I was really liking the idea until I realized that it belongs on the long list of things that are slightly different between the US and the UK... To clarify for the confused Brits out there... apple cider in the US is a non-alcoholic drink (at least, up in the north-east). In the UK, the commercial stuff is around the same strength as beer, but the real stuff will strip paint.
I remember the disappointment when I had my first glass after I'd moved over here. _________________ Bish a.k.a. Bish

Heh heh... well, the version with alcohol COULD work... but probably not the best choice. _________________ Caryn Clark... The Hip Chick Voice!

I like to gargle with salt water first thing in the morning to get rid of the yuk, then brush. Corsodyl toothpaste is quite good to brush with before a session - not too expensive. Aloedent is nice too - it's a gel -- got it from the health food store -- so not a lot of sugars, colours etc. in it. This other stuff costs the earth -- practically need to take out a mortgage -- it's called Dental Herb Company Tooth and Gum paste. Have to buy from a dental office. I use it really really sparingly. It does get rid of mouth muck though! _________________ Intuit and do it!

I don't believe I've ever seen a Biofilm before. Are any out on DVD? _________________ Try to imagine a world where there is no such thing as hypothetical situations.
