Anyone have any suggestions on how to hang rigid insulation (OC703, Insul-shield) on a exterior type door that isn't wood? Thought about spray adhesive but hoping to hear other suggestions that might be less messy and permanent.
Thanks! _________________ Joe Szymanski

Construction adhesive (i.e. Liquid Nails). I am assuming by "less messy and permanent" you mean "permanent and less messy" and not "less permanent and less messy." If it's the latter, maybe velcro will work. _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.

If the door is flat, maybe put the material on a sheet of lauan with glue and then screw the lauan to the door. _________________ Corey "Vox Man" Snow

If you want to truly hang it, they make these over the top hanger type things. Meant to hang clothing, but with a bit of bending, it could hang a rigid piece of whatever. Kind of like this, but with a flat hook: http://goo.gl/jMTYW _________________ Jeff

You could also glue it to a sheet of lauan and instead of screws use Jeffrey's idea of hangers over the top that are screwed to the lauan backing.
Thin sheet steel hangers are available or you could make your own with a pair of tin snips, a file and a hammer. _________________ Corey "Vox Man" Snow

Here's the $64,000 question-
If it's not wood, what kind of door is it?? _________________ The Blog:

Well, the interior is steel. The outer coating might be wood but I don't think so. Here's what I have.
It's a tight seal door. Really tight. I doubt there's room for anything to hook on the top. Actually, Velcro is a great idea, and I just so happen to have a bunch lying around. Thanks. _________________ Joe Szymanski

It's most likely just 25ga steel, no big deal.
IF you want to hang a panel on the door, make a wood frame like any other panel, and hang it on the door with a french cleat. _________________ The Blog:

If a refrigerator magnet sticks to the outer coating, that side is steel, too.
If so, you could get some small rare earth magnets and glue them to the foam panel and let them hold it onto the door. The good news is, the inner core of the door is probably foam. That ought to help a little with the sound deadening. _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.

Heh, you know the best place to get really strong magnets? Old hard drives.
BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THEM, THEY CAN BE DANGEROUSLY STRONG.
But they're fun and you could easily hang a sheet of something on a steel-sheathed door with them. _________________ Corey "Vox Man" Snow

Magnets! I'll have to try one and see if it sticks.Great suggestions.I'm sure one of them will work perfectly. Thanks. _________________ Joe Szymanski
