|
|
I'm not gonna go into the long story about the disorganized client that first wanted his IVR work in PCM .wav. Now they're hem hawing about thinking maybe some compressed format. They're not even sure mu-Law is what they need.
So, while their IT guy, no doubt is glazing my contact's eyes over, thought I'd try to find out if there's a fairly quick way to batch convert nearly a 1,000 .wav files over to mu-Law (if that's what they need) in Adobe Audition 1.5. I've never done a huge conversion before. Can it be done? 'cause I got lots of files to do yet...and I dread the prospect of having to manually convert more than 900 files....even though they're willing to pay the freight for the extra work. Been toying with the batch convert application on Audition...and it seems I still have to manually pull each file into the conversion tray. _________________ www.voiceoverdrew.com

don't remember where it is in 1.5 (in aa3 it's under "file") but there should be a "batch processing" option where you can choose your format & bit rate --- load your files & hit "go" _________________ "i know philip banks": todd ellis

Drew! Breathe...relax...it's OK.
When they say Mu-law there are 2 choices:
8bit 8k mu-law .VOX
OR
CCITT 8bit 8k mu-law .WAV
These are 2 different formats even though they look similar.
Once you find out which they need then you can either use Todd's suggestion (if it's the .wav format) or if you need the .VOX version I'm happy to convert them for you. Call me if you want to discuss!
PS:
Thanks for the plug Roger!!! _________________ Liz de Nesnera O.A.V. ~ Livin' The VO Dream!

Good to know. _________________ Liz de Nesnera O.A.V. ~ Livin' The VO Dream!

Yeah,
SoundForge does ADPCM .vox as well, but not Mu-Law .vox. _________________ Liz de Nesnera O.A.V. ~ Livin' The VO Dream!

Yeah. ADPCM in 1.5 as well. Still ain't heard what they want. I know it's a .wav. So, I converted nearly 900 files mu Law .wav. Took about 35 minutes. Thought it would be more daunting. But as I started, a little voice in my head (among the twelve or so there...not so many when I take my meds), said, "Hey, Sparky, betcha if you hold the 'Ctrl' button down you can highlight all of 'em." A real "Ah ha!" moment. _________________ www.voiceoverdrew.com
