Dear Gang—
I tried, once upon a time, to upgrade this joint to phpBB3 architecture and it was a complete failure.
This old database will not translate fully into a new phpBB board structure.
SO.
I have been thinking about starting a new board, and locking this one from new comments but keeping it open for use as an archive.
The newer phpBB interface allows for direct upload of media and placement of things like video streams, better searching, sorting of topics, blah blah blah.
Let me know what you think.
Love and Happy New Year,
Deebs _________________ DBCooperVO.com

DB,
I think you should go for it.
I offer this caveat, though: some will not like the change. Under a whole different umbrella, I recently took the "Setting VO Rates" LinkedIn group "public". It was not very well rec'd by many.
This is a very different kettle of fish, though. How much work is involved?
The upsides sound promising...and while legacy institutions have their place... the way VO is changing so quickly, it's nice to at least proffer the PERCEPTION, that you're keeping with the times, and moving to change to new tools.
Need help?

Deirdre,
I'll follow you over the cliff. Lead where you wish. Though I'll admit I'll miss the familiar digital halls we've come to know and love. Will the "Comic" skin still run? _________________ Be well,

Yeah— there's Comic template for phpBB3!
I'd have to learn the structure of its CSS, but it wouldn't be that much of a thrash.
I must say I liked the "Coffee Time" template I first tried with the phpBB3 changeover, but I think we are all so used to this style, I should just keep it. It's so familiar, it's like our family home or something. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

I say go for it, too! Provided, of course, that all the old stuff is still searchable. It's a total goldmine and I'd hate to risk not having it.
And if the new system has a better search tool, for the future, so much the better!
And Happy New Year! Thanks so much for keeping this place running smoothly. _________________ Bob Ransom

I say go for the switch and treat yourself to the Coffee template! (Do you need some $ for the upgrade?) _________________ the Amy Snively family of brands for all your branded thing needs.

Do it. 3 is so much easier for dealing with multi media all. It might be a bit painful for some of us to adjust to the change at first but well worth it to the community as a whole in my book. _________________ Hart Voice Overs Blog

I like the new features you mentioned. Not that I've felt at all handicapped with the current version, but updated search is never a bad thing IMHO. Looks like there are administrative advantages too.
I've never deployed php anything but I've tested a variety of stuff in the past, so if you want any help in that department let me know. I suspect it's pretty black box but I'd be glad to hammer on any trial deployments for ya for awhile.
