I'm wondering about the other 50,000 homeless radio guys. Who's going to hire them?
As for great voice. Is it great because our expectations when he opened his mouth were that he would sound like Gabby Hayes on a bender or do we really think the fact that he sounds like 16,000 identical DJ's stepping out of 1983 make him sound so wonderful.
It seems to me that most people who sound like him are signed up with Nancy Wolfson so they can lose that "sound" and be able to actually compete in v.o.
Oh, and by the by - I was using that old cardboard sign thingy way, way before this copycat.

This is known as the Gomer Pyle Effect, initially identified the first time you heard Jim Nabors sing. _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.

I guess I'm just a sucker for those feel good stories, and fairy tale endings. I am rooting for the guy. _________________ Tony |

A homeless guy who used to be a radio dj. So what's the big deal? How about the other homeless folks – the guy who used to be a custodian, or worked in a convenience store, or the woman who worked at the supermarket? The families living in their cars? The only notable thing about this "story" is how indifferent we are until there's a sense of celebrity surrounding an event. |

It's great that the media is reinforcing the idea that;
"All a voice over person does is talk." Wonderful.
I think to balance things out, someone should go on the Today show as a former VO person trying to become homeless. I wonder if that would sell? _________________ Try to imagine a world where there is no such thing as hypothetical situations.

I felt the same way about the Susan Boyle phenomenon, but at least she had a little more going for her -- not to mention no criminal record or estranged family members. It's the media and the public that needed another "Beauty in the Beast" story. This too shall pass. _________________ Diane
