This is the company that has the obscure .v3 format I've posted about earlier. I think it's a proprietary format; there is NOTHING to be found on this anywhere. I've searched the library of congress file format library, and this is not a registered file format.

From their specs sheet:

THE MOST COMMON MISTAKES: We charge the applicable fee whether your files are in the right format or not, but please be sure
to avoid these commons mistakes... 1) People often send us MP3 or WAV files. If you (or your studio) are saving files with the extension
.WAV or .MP3 instead of .v3, then the files are not in the right format
.

soooo, if anyone has done work for this company and can enlighten me I would be oh-so-grateful.

also, @LizD -- from the other thread, I did resave with .v3 extension, but since it is a WAV file in essence, it still defaults to .WAV

That is obscure, I can't find anything on it at all. I think you might have to ask them the details of what they're using and what the file format is.

I have a very fuzzy, vague recollection of .v3 from the time I was abducted by the aliens who then performed the simultaneously uncomfortable and yet slightly intriguing anal probe.

About all I can remember, other than the bright purple lights and the very cool syncopated music, was the incessant, repetitious looping of an alien-esque female voice saying "The number you have reached is not in service, please hang up and...."

Since the aliens all made a large "V" sign with their index and middle finger every time the goddess' recording played, I soon came to realize it had something to do with .v3.

But really, that's about all I can remember. Other than how pretty Des Moines looks at night from 6 miles up.

Hope this helps.

Hey!
You should be able to give a file whatever extension you want, but the properties of the file would be the same.
I would ask them to send you a sample file that works for them, then email it to me & I'll probably be able to confirm what it is.

If they Are asking for G.711, that's CCITT mu-Law normally with a .wav extension.

CC,

The only thing I can think of is that they're using u-Law or mu-Law encoding (which I believe you mentioned), but the phone infrastructure simply has the extension .v3 for their system. As long as you have it where you can view the file extensions on your PC, then just change the name of the file to whatever you would for their nomenclature scheme, and add the .v3 extension. I guarantee you that it will work if that is the correct encoding algorithm.

Yep.
I think the person who wrote the code just wanted to make it "proprietary" to that phone system and make him/herself look smaht Wink
