I have a client who wants my current wav files re-formatted into flac. I currently use ProTools on my MacPro. I am thinking of downloading Audacity to take my wav files and reformat that way. Think PT and Audacity can live happily together on my computer? I try to leave my studio computer as uncluttered with unnecessary software as I can, so I am hesitant. _________________ Diane

I'd approach this a slightly different way. Audacity is a fine general purpose audio recording/manipulation program which serves a lot of people really well... but if you really want to keep things as simple as possible, then it may be a better idea to just have a simple, single purpose file converter that will take your wav (or aiff) and convert (either individually or in batch mode) to the required FLAC. I use Audial Hub which is a multi format audio file converter. I'm not sure that it's supported any more, so I took a look at the other possibilities and came across a program called FLACer /mac/16458/flacer" target="_blank" class="postlink">http://www.macupdate.com/a /mac/16458/flacer.
It's free, simple and easy (just select best or fast compression). I've tested it on Snow Leopard, and it seems to work just fine... just open it up and drag'n'drop. _________________ Bish a.k.a. Bish

bish may have the better answer, but i've had audacity on my computers along with adobe audition as a backup, and have never noticed a conflict. _________________ rowell gormon
