zomg a Fat Head II. I have a Cascade M20u and I just plain LOVE it. It's also made (well, assembled) here in my hometown, so even better. _________________ Corey "Vox Man" Snow

Yup. I won the Fathead and CL-1. They're pretty sweet. The ribbon is SUPER proximity sensitive, so I don't know how often I'll be using it for VO. So far my favorite setup has been dual mic-ing with my 416. Mixing the two gives a really fat sound that's still articulate.
I didn't come here just to brag though. I felt it was my duty to bump this thread as the February giveaway on recordinghacks looks pretty good too. I'll sit this one out so someone else has a chance to win... _________________ Hey! Whaddaya hear?

Hello VO folks,
the March microphone giveaway is happening now. The prize is a CAD E100S. I think it's a contender for voiceover work. It's super-clean and crisp, very low noise (basically inaudible), with good high-frequency detail. I have a couple amateur voice samples up on the RecordingHacks website, here:
http://recordinghacks.com/2011/03/12/cad-e100s-first-listen/
I didn't try to exercise the full range of the mic, so you won't hear how it responds to being worked more closely. The low end fills in nicely, as you'd expect. |
