Does voices.com offer anything similar to where you can see a seeker's history of % of auditions listened-to?

nope. i let my listing expire. I'll just collect the $$ for the jobs I've already done and move on. I have a free trial with V123 right now, and those jobs seem to be better paying, and many are limited to a much smaller pool of applicants. We'll see how that plays out....

I did v123 years ago and it was just stupid how many auditions deep it would get. I've never done another site of that type again. Does anyone see any potential that these sites might "diminish your brand"? Kinda like if you go for a big agent to rep you and they google you and see a crapload of google hits that are all V123, they might think "amateur".

if we think these sites are cattle calls for anyone with a usb mic, i'm pretty sure agents out there do as well, and might lump you in the same group.

I've been looking at the voices.com site and it seems ok, but I'm glad to see some honest opinions up here about it

If your experience is like mine, here's how it will play out:

You'll audition along with 30 others. You'll get an email that your audition was opened. Sweet! They listened. You'll go to the website and see the rating as "Likely hire". SuuuuhhhhWEEETT!! I'm gonna book the job! But first, more auditions. More opens! More Likely hires!!

And then none of them will actually hire you.

How many jobs are you actually getting from agents nowdays? I have 4 agents and am lucky to land 3 or 4 a year from them. Agents are being squeezed out by sites like these and online auditioning is the wave of not just the future, but of NOW.

V123's SmartCast limits the number of auditions a client receives. Yes, there are still some clients who want to hear 100 or 200 auditions, and I seldom answer those leads. But more commonly you'll see calls for 50 or less.

BTW, I landed another $500 V123 job this week, which makes something like 4 or 5 from that site in the past 2 months. So in a month or two I've gotten more jobs from ONE online site than a year's worth from a handful of agents. So again, for some folks- V123 works. For others, it's voices.com. The ONE 'big' player that I never hear anyone saying they stick with, or get much from, is voplanet.

I've been on V123 for almost five years and it has been fantastic for me. I have multiple repeat clients from there. At one point I was on retainer for a client doing phone prompts. Right now I'm finishing up almost 60 medical narration scripts, all because of Voice123. I did the pay-as-you-go thing on Voices.com for about three months and I got nothing so I dropped it. I barely audition via agents anymore because it just isn't worth the three hours it takes to trudge to NYC & back. Online auditioning is definitely the way to go!

Almost all of my work comes from a handful of agents and work is steady. I have a bank of studios that contact me direct, but in essence they are agents as well. I also get work from clients direct just form making connections over the years. I'm not saying that one can't get work through a V123 type sites, but it just seems now that real steady long term relationship work, just takes good ole marketing and pressing the flesh.

i think i may finally have to ditch voices.com. while i've been too busy to do the "vulture-watch" on their auditions much of the past year, now that i'm paying more attention to what's coming in, it's disappointing.

just today, i deleted notice after notice for small jobs (100.00 or thereabouts), clicked a couple for 250-500 only to find there were already 20-50 submissions although i'd just received the email, and the one or two bigger jobs i saw...with low submission numbers...turned out to be for an african-american voice and a female voice.

i may have to re-think my earlier opinions and give v123 a try. some trusted friends say the much-maligned "smartcast" really does help weed out the chaff from both buyer and seller, if used sparingly.

otherwise, i guess it's down to finding more studios/producers who need my style. this current route is about as productive as my cat trying to catch the little red dot from the laser pointer!
