EVeryone:

Thanks for all of you who answered my post in the Gear forum about editing out mouth and breath noises. I recorded a short sample script from the Edge Studio practice script archive and have uploaded to of them:

This is one where I replaced the mouth noise with background noise:

http://voice123.com/mp3/demos/philiphwang%20-%20Paste%20Noise.mp3

And here's one where I reduced the volume at the mouth noises:

HOw do they sound? Can you all tell where the edit points are?

At normal listening levels they both sound fine.

No problems with mouth noises, but I'm picking up some pretty noticeable room noise. Sounds like it could be a computer fan or just some room ambiance. It's not horrible, but enough to merit some attention.

The problems here are indeed fan background noise along with echo and room resonance..

Kick the computer out of the room, treat the walls and ceiling with rigid fiberglass in the form of Owens Corning 703 or John Manville Insul-Shield.

That's like hitting "IN" at the beginning of a sentence- "In July".

Of course you all know the rest.

I'm recording in a 5' x 2' closet with blankets draped on the walls. The door to the closet is closed when I'm recording. The computer is in the next room. The background noise may be the furnace. I'll turn it off next time and see how that is. Thanks.
