So, I'm working on a sooper-sekrit project- well, no. It's a fun side project with some old friends to produce a rather silly fiction piece they did a long time ago as an old-time sounding radio play. What I'm looking for is a VST plugin or effect that I can use to generate a sound as though the audio were lifted from an old recording like a transcription disc or LP.
I've experimented with a couple of VST plugins, the best one so far makes pretty neat sound but it's a loop and one can detect it before very long. I'd like something that generates more random noise, and with more knobs to adjust pops, clicks and general scratchiness.
I'm playing with various ones I'm digging up around the intertubes, but I figured I'd ask here if anyone has any suggestions for a good noisemaker VST. _________________ Corey "Vox Man" Snow

It's a great easy filter too. I use it constantly for radio imaging. _________________ Wicked huge.....in India.

Izotope Vinyl does NOT play well with my Motu Audio Desk software on my Mac. Its features are really interesting but it causes all kinds of memory problems and program freezing for me.

Once I play with it on my PC and Cubase, I'll follow up with a report here. _________________ Corey "Vox Man" Snow

I went ahead and installed Izotope Vinyl and it was OK, but the scratch sound was either "not there" or "uber harsh". It does have some other effects that are nice (although the warp effect won't work as a VST plugin).
I also found this: http://spyro.mediashift.net/klanglabs/freebies/milli_vinylli/milli_vinylli.htm
"Milli Vinylli", a neat little freeware plugin that also does pops and hiss. Unfortunately it's not maintained any longer, and I don't think it's been updated in years, but it does work.
Interestingly, the best effect I've gotten so far is a combination of Izotope and Milli Vinylli, using the latter for the "crackle" effect and the former for the wear sound and to isolate the frequency range by decade.
I think it'll sound pretty cool! Thanks, everyone. _________________ Corey "Vox Man" Snow
