So...a couple of weeks ago I saw a Twitter post from a company called TimeTimer.
It was interesting & so I went to their website.
They had a bunch of videos listed, and one was supposed to be in French.
Well...professional curiosity made me click on it.
It wasn't actually dubbed, but simply subtitled.
So.....it was a slow-ish day....
I transcribed the subtitles.
Downloaded their video...dubbed MY voice over their video & added some music which matched their original background music.
(thanks to our dear Todd for helping me with the technicalities of the video portion!)
I had to tweak the script a bit to make it fit in time....but it came out in time & pretty well!
I uploaded it to Vimeo, sent an email to the company saying I loved their product and that I got inspired to produce a French audio version of their video.
Clickety Click for the video
I just got this response today:
**********************************
Hi Liz,
Your email was passed to me a couple of weeks ago. I apologize for not replying sooner.
I appreciate you taking the initiative to create a “french-speaking” translation to our video. Unfortunately, I do not speak French, but our European distributor does. Do you mind if I share the link with her?
We are considering other projects, where your services may come in handy. They are in the early concept phase still, but I will keep you posted.
Thanks for your time and for introducing yourself.
*************************************************************
Of course I told him to go ahead & share the link!
Whatever happens with THIS project it got me on their radar.
Just thought I'd share! _________________ Liz de Nesnera O.A.V. ~ Livin' The VO Dream!

OH! I forgot an important part!
In my initial email I told them that if they wanted to download & use the French video?...I'd be happy to give them all rights....if they sent me $375 _________________ Liz de Nesnera O.A.V. ~ Livin' The VO Dream!

What I like most about this story is how you thought outside the box.
We can all send cold e-mails (and we all do). And we all sit and wait while nothing happens. And we all do the P2P sites, and agents, and yadda yadda.
But this showed some creative thinking and energy. Good for you! _________________ Scott R. Pollak

This is a wonderful story, and beautiful work. I hope the dividends will be great.
The video is also a terrific tool for anyone learning French - having the VO and the words at the same time is wicked helpful to the point of luxury! |

This is waaaay cool, Liz.... this is where the 80% of what we do has to shine through so we can do the other 20% (voice-acting).
Woots!
